At a Glance: Core Actions
Action
- Cast a Spell: This is your primary action. See options below.
- Cantrip Attack:
- Shocking Grasp: +7 to hit (Advantage if target wears metal armor), 2d8 Lightning damage. Target can't take reactions.
- Acid Splash: Target(s) must make a DC 15 DEX save or take 2d6 Acid damage. Can target two creatures within 5 ft. of each other.
- Potent Cantrip: Even if a creature succeeds on its save against your cantrip, or you miss with an attack roll, it still takes half damage.
Bonus Action
- Misty Step: Teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space you can see. Your best escape tool.
Reaction
- Silvery Barbs: When a creature succeeds on an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you can force it to reroll and use the lower result. You can then grant Advantage to an ally.
- Feather Fall: When you or an ally falls, slow their descent to 60 feet per round, preventing fall damage.
- War Caster Spell: Cast a single-target spell (like Shocking Grasp) at a creature that provokes an opportunity attack from you.
Spellcasting Options (By Situation)

Single Target Damage
- Magic Missile (1st Lvl): AUTO-HITS. 3 darts, 1d4+1 Force damage each. Excellent for finishing off weak enemies or forcing Concentration saves.
- Scorching Ray (2nd Lvl): Make three separate ranged spell attacks (+7 to hit). Each ray deals 2d6 Fire damage.
- Tasha's Caustic Brew (1st Lvl): ⭐ Line of acid (30 ft.). DC 15 DEX save or take 2d4 Acid damage and another 2d4 at the start of its turns until it uses an action to wash it off.
Area of Effect (AoE) / Crowd Control
- Fireball (3rd Lvl): The ultimate AoE. 20-ft radius sphere. DC 15 DEX save or take 8d6 Fire damage (half on success).
- Thunderwave (1st Lvl): 15-ft cube originating from you. DC 15 CON save or take 2d8 Thunder damage and be pushed 10 ft. away (half damage and no push on success). Good for getting enemies off you.
- Cloud of Daggers (2nd Lvl): ⭐ Create a 5-ft cube of flying daggers. Creatures take 4d4 slashing damage when they enter the area for the first time on a turn or start their turn there. Great for doorways and choke points.
Defense & Escape
- Misty Step (2nd Lvl): (Bonus Action) Your get-out-of-jail-free card.
- Mage Armor (1st Lvl): If you have this in your spellbook, cast it after every long rest! It sets your AC to 13 + DEX modifier (AC 15 for you) for 8 hours.
- Feather Fall (1st Lvl): (Reaction) Prevents fall damage for up to 5 creatures. Crucial in a place like Castle Ravenloft.
Utility & Rituals
- Leomund's Tiny Hut (3rd Lvl - Ritual): Creates an immobile dome of force that makes for a safe rest. Invaluable in the Barovian wilderness.
- Detect Magic (1st Lvl - Ritual): Essential for finding magical items and traps.
- Find Familiar (1st Lvl - Ritual): A magical companion for scouting and delivering touch-spells.
Key Class Features
- Arcane Recovery: Once per day during a short rest, you can recover expended spell slots. The combined level can be up to 3 (e.g., one 3rd-level slot, or a 2nd and a 1st).
- War Caster: You have Advantage on CON saving throws to maintain Concentration on your spells. This is vital!
- Alert: You get +5 to Initiative and cannot be surprised. You will likely act first, allowing you to control the battlefield from the start.
DM's Tip for Linus: As an Evoker, your strength is area damage. Use your high Initiative from the Alert feat to act first and drop a Fireball or Cloud of Daggers on clustered enemies before they can scatter. Remember, you are fragile! Use Misty Step to maintain distance. Your Potent Cantrip feature means that even a missed cantrip still contributes damage, so don't be afraid to use them to conserve spell slots.
