Session 022 - 2025-09-08

Session 022 - September 8, 2025

Vistani Camp

The party traveled south from the lake and around Vallaki, avoiding entering the city while accompanied by Arabelle, the Vistani girl, and the drunken Vallakian.

They reached a massive clearing in the Svalich Woods, with a small hill at its center. Around the base of the hill stood a few houses, and at the top a massive tent. Around the tent were several barrel wagons.

Arabelle told them that was the place, and they proceeded along the path. Soon they got close enough to a house that had three hooded figures—dark-skinned elves—at its door. Once they noticed the girl with them, they knocked on the door and called out for Kasimir. He came out to greet them, the girl in particular. As she explained that they had rescued her from the unconscious drunkard, he directed them to the tent at the top and escorted the group.

Reaching the top, they saw several Vistani lying on the grass, passed out drunk. At the center of the tent, a young man was tied to the main mast, and two other men were cracking a whip at him. As the group was announced, the two men turned and cheered upon seeing Arabelle. Her father, Luvash, and her uncle, Arrigal. The PCs recognized the latter—he was the one who had handed them the plea for help letter that brought them to this desolate place.

They exchanged a handful of interactions, noticing Kasimir to be uneasy when Strahd was mentioned by the Vistani men. Luvash then offered the group one treasure of their choice before departing the place, and they choose: An onyx jewelry box with gold filigree (worth 250 gp) containing six pieces of cheap jewelry (worth 50 gp each) and a potion of poison in an unlabeled crystal vial (worth 100 gp)

Kasimir's House

Upon reaching the foothill, Kasimir invited them to his home, where they saw several wooden statuettes of elven deities and a tapestry depicting a lush forest. Kasimir then proceeded to tell them the tale of his brethren, the dusk elves: hundreds of years ago, his sister Patrina was an accomplished wizard, and in her hunger for knowledge and power she decided to become one of Strahd's brides, hoping to become more powerful. However, their society didn't agree with that decision and took the matter into their own hands, stoning her to death. When Strahd learned of this, he killed most of the men and all women and children as punishment, leaving the Vistani as custodians of their people.

But recently his sister started visiting him in his dreams. She is now a banshee, residing inside Castle Ravenloft, and after all those years she feels deep remorse. She tells her brother that inside the Amber Temple there might be something that could kill the vampire lord once and for all.

The PCs shared the information about the artifact from the tarokka reading, and Kasimir agreed that it sounded like the Amber Temple. He asked if they would be able to accompany him there in a couple of days, as it wouldn't be good for him to depart now. He said he would send word to them at the church in Vallaki.

Traveling to Wizard of Wines

The party said goodbye, and the PCs returned to Vallaki for a night of rest. In the morning, they left for the Wizard of Wines, and at the first crossroads they met an undead knight. He looked like a zombie but walked with more determination. He approached them and Klildar was able to recognize a fellow knight. He had a rusty armor set and a gleaming longsword. In his eyes they could see determination and hatred.

He proclaimed a deep hatred for Strahd, and once the PCs confessed the same, he asked them to travel to Argynvostholt, the place where the Knights of the Silver Dragon dwelt, and ask their leader, Vladimir Horngaard, to march against the vampire.

Seeing the opportunity to gather more allies against the dark lord, the party decided to go there. The knight, who can't remember his own name, led the way.

Argynvostholt - Session End

They arrived at a massive mansion, almost a palace. Even though one third was in ruins, the remainder of the building was still magnificent. At the entrance stood a silver dragon statue overlooking the house. Jon took the lead going up the stone steps, which triggered an old trap—a weak jet of air coming out of the statue's mouth.

As he swung the door open... the session ended.
