The Winery Assault - Continued

Summary

The party continued their assault on the Wizard of Wines Winery, engaging the corrupted druids and their blight minions in the loading dock and veranda. The battle turned decisively when Alfbern, in dire wolf form, snapped the Gulthias Staff, instantly destroying the horde of blights. With two druids dead, the party prepares to sweep the rest of the building.

Combat Continued

The party continued to fight the corrupted Druids and their plant companions. The larger group, Alfbern, Linus, and Klildar, focused its fire on the Old Man Druid that was in the loading bay, while also dealing with a couple of groups of Needle Blights approaching.

The Druid tried to push the Paladin away with a thunderwave spell, but Klildar saved and only took minor damage. Meanwhile, Alfbern and Linus fired against the blights.

Atop the roof, Jon was showering powerful shots on the hateful plants, which were dropping quickly. However, with the damage inflicted upon the Druid, the other groups of blights started to move towards them.

It was then that Klildar flew behind the Druid, who tried to get away from him, and landed a powerful blow infused with Divine Smite. It broke the back of the Druid and pushed his dead body forward to the edge of the loading bay's cover. His hands were still grasping the gnarled staff that he had called "the vampire's staff." Alfbern was able to notice an evil aura emanating from it.

After another round of attacks, a Druid Woman emerged from the veranda, accompanied by two Vine Blights that soon cast entangle against Linus and Alfbern. The woman also shouted, in Druidic, for the minions to reach for the staff. It seemed very important to them.

While the rest of the group fired attacks against the creatures, Alfbern, now wild-shaped as a Dire Wolf, darted forward and grabbed the staff in his jaws. The object tasted of blood and had an awful texture, a mix of rotten wood and flesh. He trotted away from the fight and, using his front paws and his maw, snapped the staff.

A loud and piercing shriek echoed from the broken staff, and all blights in the vicinity exploded in a flurry of splinters. Only the Druid woman was standing, her face a mix of shock and hatred.

Klildar took the opportunity to fly down on her, bringing divine justice with his hammer; she dropped dead immediately.

The party regrouped at the north side. Recalling the information from the Martikovs, they suspect there should still be one or two more druids in the building.

That's where the session ended.

• Pending Threat: The party believes at least one druid remains inside the winery.
